Recent George Washington Wyndham Historic Review: "Excellent choice for romantic anniversary weekend. Beautiful room - so glad we upgraded to the suite - fantastic shower and spa bath. Can't wait to come back in the winter to use the fireplace. Fantastically comfortable bed, pillows, and linens. I even wanted to bring the furniture and desk chair home - don't think I've ever thought that about a hotel  before! The entire staff was welcoming and friendly - real southern hospitality!! Same goes for the people we encountered in the town. Easy walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants and shops in the walking mall. For a really special meal, we recommend One Block West - freshest local food prepared in a simply elegant fashion without being overly complicated or fussy. We also drove to Alamo Drafthouse movie theater for a unique experience of movie and dinner at the same time. We have been driving by Winchester on I-81 for the last 25 years and had no idea how charming the downtown area would be. This was our first visit to Winchester but it won't be the last - and we wouldn't stay anywhere else but the George Washington. Don't forget your bathing suit - the pool and hot tub are a real elegant addition to this beautifully renovated hotel."
